ATLANTA – Martha Joyce Johnson couldn't believe her eyes when she discovered she'd won $300,000 playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Blackjack Showdown.
The Rebecca resident and her husband, Willie, were taking their new truck for a spin when she purchased the winning ticket that carried a top prize.
Dixie Food Store #0625, Highway 125 North, in Chula sold the winning ticket.
"I started stuttering," said Johnson, 40. "I was just that excited."
She shared the news with her family.
"Everybody started jumping," said Johnson, who has three children and two grandchildren.
With her winnings, Johnson plans to pay off bills and buy a new bedroom suit.
"I consider myself lucky, and this means it was my turn to win," she said. "I am too excited."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
