$286,000 Fantasy 5 win dazzles Hampton husband
ATLANTA – Like holiday lights, a Hampton husband is wrapped around a Fantasy 5 win. Gregory Govan of Hampton matched all five winning numbers in the Dec. 8 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning a $286,580 jackpot prize.
Govan, 48, said he feels wonderful and plans to treat his wife, Marlise, for the holidays.
“I’m going to buy my wife a newer car and send her on a shopping spree,” he exclaimed.
For himself, the father of four adult children anticipates buying property.
Winning numbers from the Dec. 8 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 6-25-28-30-35. Sun Food Mart, 10010 Tara Blvd. in Jonesboro, sold the lucky Quik Pik ticket.
Govan, a maintenance technician, said he discovered he’d won the lottery when he checked the results on the Georgia Lottery’s website.
“I was talking to my wife on the phone when I shouted out, ‘We’ve won,’ ” he recalled. “I told three guys at work, and I bought them lunch.”
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the bonus. Sun Food Mart will receive an $8,000 retailer incentive bonus.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
