ATLANTA – An Augusta gas station has pumped a quarter-million dollar Georgia Lottery prize to a happy winner in time for the holidays. Coliseum, 801 Walton Way in Augusta, has sold a $250,000 top prize on the Holiday Gifts instant game.
Mack Johnson Jr. of Ridge Spring, S.C., won the top prize. Johnson, who works for the town’s water department, said he was in Augusta when he decided to purchase the holiday-themed ticket. Johnson, 68, says he scratched it while at home.
“I almost passed out,” he recalled.
Feeling good about his lottery win, Johnson wants to pay off bills.
“I didn’t have any Christmas plans, but I will make some now,” he exclaimed.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
