ATLANTA – Through the grapevine, Carol Strickland heard she’d won the lottery, but her digital video recorder confirmed it. Strickland, 58, won a $20,000 prize from the Feb. 16 $3,000,000 Taxes Paid Weekly Extra Chance drawing.
The Alpharetta grandmother submitted her non-winning Georgia Lottery instant ticket $3,000,000 Taxes Paid for the extra chance drawing.
Strickland had received a phone call first from her daughter, saying she’d won a prize.
“Then, we wound the DVR back just so we could see it,” she said. “I was very excited.”
A grandmother of two and mother of two adult children with her husband, Charles, Strickland intends to pay bills with her prize.
“We’re going to have fun with it, too,” she exclaimed.
The Georgia Lottery instant game $3,000,000 Taxes Paid is loaded with cash prizes of up to $3 million after taxes.
Players can submit non-winning tickets for entry into the $3,000,000 Taxes Paid Weekly Extra Chance Drawings for a chance to win $20,000 after taxes. Drawings are held on Wednesdays.
