ATLANTA – An Alma man was counting sheep when the calls came in that he could count a lot more. George Randy Hill’s name was drawn as a $20,000 winner in Wednesday’s $3,000,000 Taxes Paid extra chance drawing.
“I was asleep on the couch when a friend called and said, ‘Your name was just on TV,’ ” explained Hill, 52. “It was a good way to wake up.”
Congratulatory calls began to pour in about the prize, which is $20,000 after taxes.
“I think everybody saw it but me,” Hill said.
Hill, who is married with two daughters, was thrilled to hear the news.
“I did a jig,” he said. “I danced through the den.”
A building contractor, Hill plans to pay bills and put the prize toward his youngest daughter’s education when she starts college in the fall.
The Georgia Lottery instant game $3,000,000 Taxes Paid is loaded with cash prizes up to $3 million after taxes. Players can submit non-winning tickets in the extra chance drawings for a chance to win $20,000 after taxes. Drawings are held on Wednesdays.
