ATLANTA – A retired firefighter from Lakeland has won a jumbo Georgia Lottery prize. Robert Darrell Lee, 58, played the instant game Jumbo Bucks Classic and won $50,000.
“It feels mighty good, I tell you. Mighty good,” he said.
Lakeland Quick Stop, located at 1019 S. Valdosta Highway in Lakeland, sold the lucky top prize ticket. Lee scratched the ticket in his truck in front of the store and couldn’t believe what he saw.
“I had to read it three or four times,” he said. “I picked my wife up and had to show it to her.”
Lee and his wife, Susan, have two children and one grandchild.
Retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission, Lee plans to save his winnings for a rainy day.
“I’m just going to put it back and use it as I need it,” he explained.
