ATLANTA – A Rossville fabrics worker has stitched together a Georgia Lottery win. Nelda Alexander, 57, won $400,000 playing the instant game Kings & Queens.
Alexander bought and scratched her ticket at Mr. Quick Market, 3141 Lakeview Dr., Rossville.
“I was in tears when I left there,” she said.
A warper operator at Southern Industrial Fabrics in Rossville, Alexander will save and invest her winnings for retirement.
“When I get older, I won’t have to work so hard,” she said. “It’ll be nice not to worry after I retire.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.3 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
