ATLANTA – A winning jackpot ticket was sold in southwest Atlanta! Chevron Food Mart, 5851 Buffington Road, sold Tuesday night’s winning Mega Millions jackpot ticket worth $71 million.
Winning numbers from the drawing were: 10-22-24-36-49 and the Mega Ball was 33.
In October, another metro Atlanta resident claimed a Powerball jackpot prize. Kathy Scruggs won $25 million in the Sept. 14 Powerball drawing after trying to purchase a Mega Millions ticket.
Winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
