ATLANTA – A gas station stop revealed a lucky Georgia Lottery prize for a retired Warner Robins welder. Lyle Leonard Jr., 73, won a $100,000 prize playing the instant game Georgia Lottery Black.
Leonard claimed his prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Macon.
“I bought a couple of tickets and looked at it, and it was there,” he said. “I was in shock.”
Phillips 66, located at 100 Carolina Ave. in Warner Robins, sold the winning ticket, and Leonard scratched it at home.
“I just didn’t believe it,” the lucky winner exclaimed. “I had to look at it about three or four times before it sunk in. Then, I got excited.”
Leonard said he intends to pay off a car he recently purchased and save the remainder of his winnings.
Georgia Lottery Black is an instant game loaded with prizes of up to $1 million.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
