ATLANTA – One father of four has secured a quarter-million dollar win playing the Georgia Lottery. Robert Wise, 45, won a $250,000 top prize playing the new instant game $ Ticket.
Wise of Warrenville, S.C., was visiting his mother in Rockdale County when he purchased the ticket at BP Food Mart, 607 Sigman Road in Conyers, while out grocery shopping.
He asked the clerk for the “newest, hottest ticket.”
“The clerk handed me this ticket and said, ‘Here, you’re a winner,’ ” Wise said. “I feel great.”
Wise and his wife, Yolanda, have four children, ages 11, 9, 7 and 5.
The couple anticipate purchasing a new home with their windfall.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
