Luck o’ the lottery: Mega Millions jumps to $200M
ATLANTA – Mega Millions is going extra green in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot has soared to an estimated $200 million after no one matched all the winning numbers Tuesday.
Seven Georgia Lottery players won $10,000 each in Tuesday’s drawing. The lucky tickets were purchased in Cave Spring, Lawrenceville, Lithia Springs, Marietta, Norcross, Sandy Springs and Savannah.
The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since Jan. 27 and has rolled 14 times.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: approximately $7.6 million a year for 26 years with the annuity option; or a single payment worth approximately $145 million with the cash option.
Mega Millions tickets are $1 per play. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
