Mega Millions blossoms to $290M
ATLANTA – Mega Millions is in full bloom this spring. Friday’s jackpot has grown to $290 million after no one matched all the winning numbers in Tuesday’s drawing.
Six Georgia Lottery players won $10,000 in Tuesday’s drawing. The winning tickets were purchased in Acworth, Americus, Blairsville, Rome, Tennille and Villa Rica.
One player in Valdosta increased a $10,000 prize to $40,000 with the Megaplier option.
The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since Marcia Adams of College Park won $72 million in the Jan. 24 drawing. The jackpot has rolled 16 times since.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: approximately $11 million a year for 26 years with the annuity option; or a single payment worth approximately $205 million with the cash option.
Mega Millions tickets are $1 per play. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
