ATLANTA – A Coffee County man has captured a huge win from the Georgia Lottery just in time to celebrate the New Year. Terry Jackson of Douglas won $275,000 playing the instant game EZ Grand.
Carver’s Minit Mart, 12 Ben Carter Road in Baxley, sold the winning ticket.
Jackson, a truck driver, said he plays “every now and then.”
“I scratched the ticket in the car, and my heart jumped out of my chest,” he said. “It was an amazing feeling.”
With his windfall, the lucky winner plans to purchase a new Chevrolet Corvette and a Cadillac Escalade.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
