ATLANTA – Mega Millions and Powerball are set to wow this weekend with high multi-million dollar jackpots, generating excitement across Georgia. The Mega Millions jackpot boasts $270 million for Friday’s drawing, and Powerball is loaded with a $194 million jackpot for Saturday’s drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since Nov. 7 and has rolled 20 times.
Two winning tickets worth $5,000 were sold in Hinesville and Atlanta from Tuesday’s drawing.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: the $270 million annuity prize paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $181 million.
It only takes $1 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.
The Powerball jackpot has grown since Dec. 3 and has rolled 13 times.
Two winning tickets worth $10,000 were sold in Union City and Gainesville drawing from Wednesday’s drawing.
Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $194 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $129 million. Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
