ATLANTA – A Smyrna man has piled on a plentiful prize from the Georgia Lottery. John Walker, 71, matched all five winning numbers from the Jan. 14 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning the $332,464 jackpot prize.
Walker selected the Quik Pik option and claimed his prize Thursday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
CITGO Quick Food Mart, 540 Concord Road in Smyrna, sold the winning ticket.
Winning numbers from the Jan. 14 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 11-35-36-37-38.
“They were such weird numbers. That’s how I remembered them,” Walker recalled as he watched the televised drawing. “I knew immediately, but I wanted to be sure.”
Following a sleepless night mulling over his win, Walker now is enthused.
“I told my wife at 6 a.m., and she thought the prize was pretty good,” he said.
The lucky winner and his wife, Karen, have three adult children and one grandchild.
Married 34 years, Walker anticipates buying her a new car.
