ATLANTA – Both Mega Millions and Powerball have climbed, reaching stunning hundred-million dollar jackpot levels.
The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is an estimated, annuitized $114 million while the Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is an estimated $236 million to a single annuity winner.
Two winning tickets worth $5,000 were sold in Stone Mountain and Columbus from Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot began rolling Jan. 12 and has rolled 13 times.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: the $114 million annuity prize paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $75 million.
It only takes $1 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.
The Powerball jackpot began rolling Jan. 16 and has rolled 12 times.
One winning ticket worth $1 million was sold in Cartersville from Saturday’s drawing. Two additional lucky tickets worth $50,000 were sold in Port Wentworth and Savannah.
Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $236 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $156.3 million.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $17 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
