Former middle Georgia radio and news man wins $10K prize
ATLANTA – Todd Wilson of Macon has won a show-stopping prize playing a Georgia Lottery Print n Play game.
Wilson, a former longtime radio personality and television anchor, recently snagged $10,000 playing Peach Bingo.
Shell, located at 3750 Mercer University Drive in Macon, sold the winning ticket.
Wilson, an actor and the current technical director for the theater department at Mercer University, said he was running errands before heading to work when he purchased the ticket and almost missed out on his lucky win.
“I almost left it on the counter,” he said. “I was leaving and had forgotten to grab it, until the clerk called out to me.”
After securing the ticket and later on inspecting it in the car, however, Wilson said the game had his undivided attention once he realized he was a winner.
“I started looking and matching,” he said. “Then I just kept saying, ‘Oh my gosh, oh my gosh.’”
The 54-year-old said that he plans to use his winnings pay some bills and invest in his savings.
“It was all luck,” he said. “It’s already made my year.”
Wilson claimed his prize Thursday at the Georgia Lottery’s Macon District Office.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $19.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.8 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
