ATLANTA – Jacqueline Denton of Waycross has won an early birthday present. Denton won a $25,000 prize playing the Georgia Lottery’s $1,000,000 777 Slots of Luck scratcher.
N & R Food Mart, located at 703 Gordon St. in Blackshear, sold the winning ticket.
According to Denton, a housekeeper for a nursing home, she was on her lunch break grabbing a bite to eat when she decided to purchase a ticket. After scratching the ticket and revealing it to be a winner, Denton said she was stunned.
“I kept asking, ‘Are my eyes playing tricks on me?’” she said. “I didn’t think it was real.”
The soon to be 31-year-old said that she plans to use her winnings to pay off some bills and celebrate her upcoming birthday.
“I’ve never won this much money before,” she said. “I’m definitely going to treat myself.”
Denton claimed her prize last week at the Georgia Lottery’s Tifton District Office.
The $1,000,000 777 Slots of Luck game is loaded with cash prizes, including $1 million top prizes, $25,000 second-tier prizes, $10,000 third-tier prizes and more.
