ATLANTA – The Powerball jackpot continues to tick up as the countdown to the New Year begins. Due to brisk sales, the Powerball jackpot for Saturday, Jan. 1 has been raised from $483 million to $500 million with a $355.9 million cash value.
As the jackpot continues to grow, Georgians are ringing in 2022 with some exciting wins. In the Dec. 29 Powerball drawing, a $1 million ticket was purchased in Savannah with four $50,000 tickets sold around the state.
The $1 million ticket was purchased at Airport Amoco, 291 Crossroads Parkway, Savannah.
The four $50,000 tickets were purchased at: QuikTrip #0828, 30839 Highway 441 S, Commerce; RaceTrac #0625, 505 Historic Highway 441, Cornelia; Chevron Food Mart, 5995 Covington Highway, Decatur; and online at galottery.com.
Winning numbers for the Dec. 29 drawing were: 2-6-9-33-39, and the Powerball was 11. Players are reminded to check their tickets for one of the nine ways to win.
Powerball winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
Powerball tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents also can purchase tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
Powerball players can multiply prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $24.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
