ATLANTA – The Powerball jackpot was bumped from $925 million to an estimated $960 million Friday morning, boosted by strong ticket sales. The estimated cash value is $441.4 million.
This ranks as the fourth largest Powerball jackpot and ninth largest U.S. lottery jackpot.
The Powerball jackpot was previously won on July 19. Since then, there have been 30 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.
Powerball tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents with a Georgia mailing address, who are located in Georgia at the time of purchase, can purchase Powerball tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Powerball players can multiply prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play.
Players are reminded to check their tickets for one of the nine ways to win. Powerball winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $26.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 2.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
